Great luxury rental
What a nice stay we had here. The house is very well equipped, we enjoyed the hot pot and the wonderful view of northern lights. We cooked several meals and it was very comfortable. The lockbox and key were a bit difficult to operate, and I wish there was a colander in the kitchen, but otherwise it was perfect :-)

Perfect in all ways.
We stayed at both Bakki and Holt and both properties exceeded our expectations. They are quiet, surrounded by incredible nature, and so lovely. Both properties are fully equipped and were expertly cleaned. Heidi is responsive, friendly, and extremely helpful! If you’re visiting West Iceland, you’ve found your perfect place to stay. :)

Robinson Family Belfast
We really enjoyed our stay in this property. There were 5 of us and there was plenty of space to relax together. We did a lot of sight seeing and it was a cosy retreat at the end of a busy day. We cooked a lot and the kitchen had everything we needed. The beds are all very comfy and everywhere was clean and tidy. We used the hot tub every night and were lucky enough to have a fantastic view of the Northern lights one evening The shops in the nearby town are handy and any queries we had were answered promptly by Heidrun.

A dream comes true
This house and the area are beautiful. We stayed here for 3 nights and two evenings we saw the northern lights from the hot tub. The house is very luxurious and everything is there (also a lot of towels). Top! The Snæfellsjökull National Park is not far and is beautiful to visit. The Golden Circle is also easy to do from here. We really enjoyed everything. The communication with the owner of the house went perfectly and everything was clearly explained. We definitely recommend this house.

Wunderschönes Ferienhaus, in grandioser Natur.
Wir waren für eine Woche in Island. Dieses Haus bietet viele Möglichkeiten sich wohl zu fühlen. Wer Ruhe sucht wird sie dort finden, mit Blick in die wunderschöne Landschaft. Die Kommunikation mit Heidrun verlief schnell und Problemlos.

Perfect!
Heidrun was a perfect place to stay for my trip to Iceland. I stayed their with my Mother who turned 70 and best friend. The house was so cozy and each of us has a bedroom of our own. All the amenities anyone would need. The hot tub was perfect after a full day of hiking. Since we were on the Westend, there was a lot of driving. We did the Golden Circle which did take up the entire day and into the night so had dinner at The Settlement in Borgarnes. Delicious! That was our only time we ate out, otherwise cooked everyday. Explored Grabrok crater, Hruanfrossar, Barnafoss, Ullarselio Wool Center,ect. Lots to see and all so beautiful. A great trip. Don't need much cash, get wine at the airport, need a credit card pin number to get gas, and watch the cost of certain foods. Loved.

Excellent, light and bright with all around windows in the living area

Luxury house in rural setting , close enough to town
One of the best properties we have stayed at over the many years of renting villas . Quality furnishings and thought to detail . Views are fabulous and saw the Lights on the first night . The hot tub is one the best we have enjoyed . Extremely comfortable beds , with extensive views . The underfloor heating is a joy to come back to after a cold yomp on the hills . A perfect stay.

Stunning remote villa, super host, couldn’t ask for more
Booking this villa was easy from the start due the host (Heidi) being so friendly and quick with responses to our questions. I visited Iceland last weekend (March 8-11th) and with 6 friends and we had everything we needed, the villa is stunning with lovely views and no one else around. We hired two 4 x 4’s through rental cars and paid the £18 a day protected cover insurance which covered the ash damage/gravel etc as read horror stories of people charged when returning the cars. The cheapest deal we found on the site was with Geysir which was easy and no issues when returning the car, you just need to give your credit card for deposit. We booked ahead and went straight to the blue lagoon from the airport (approx 20 mins away), absolutely beautiful and a must when visiting the island. We stopped at a Bonus (supermarket) on the way to the villa which is about an hour twenty from the blue lagoon but the store shuts at 18:30 daily. The following day we walked from the villa (left out of yellow gate), info is in the welcome pack at the villa but it was a lovely 5 kilometre walk to the main road where we crossed over to a stunning waterfall. We were lucky with sunshine but the lakes were still iced over but still needed all our warm clothes as it was very windy on the walk back. We also did a tour with Greyline to see the golden circle and Geysir, again fantastic tour guide with wonderful stories of Iceland and traditions. (Booked online and very easy but it’s a early morning drive back into Reykjavík) You get the opportunity to stop in a couple of places for lunch and there is a coffee shop next to Greyline main office for breakfast. We only ate out one evening as we wanted to make the most of the villa, hot tub and views. We ate at the settlement centre which was very nice and only 15 minutes from the villa - we emailed and booked ahead as it was a Friday evening. There isn’t much else around and eating out is really expensive for the quality, although I’m told the lamb was outstanding. We’re lucky enough to see the northern light properly but didn’t book a tour as Borgarnes is a good area for it. If you really do want to see them then from the villa get to the main road and follow a tour bus rather than driving into Reykjavík to come back out that way. This villa is beautiful and well worth booking, want to go back already.

Incredible stay - best place we have stayed
We absolutely loved our stay at Heidi and Rob’s beautiful home. Our first impression was - wow - the house is surrounded by the most majestic setting - better than the pictures! Inside the home was spotless, literally not a speck of dirt. Everything is done to a very high standard - we especially loved the hot tub, kitchen and all of the games provided. The beds are also incredibly comfortable. Best of all Heidi and Rob were the most gracious of hosts, answering all of our 138429922 questions and assisting us in making the most out of our trip. Their willingness to share their knowledge was invaluable. At the end of these kind of trips we are usually ready to get back home, but after our stay here we were not ready to go! We absolutely loved every minute of it and hope to come back soon!

Lovely house, spacious clean and very well equipped
We went to Iceland to celebrate my wife’s 40th as she really hoped to catch the northern lights so selected a property out with Reykjavík to avoid light pollution. We were very impressed with the house, nice and spacious with a great hot tub and plenty of equipment. The owner is very friendly and gave us some good travel advice when we were going to the geysers. My wife got her wish when we got the northern lights four nights in succession.

Beautifully remote
The house is off the beaten path but not so far away from everything. The house is not huge on the outside but you very spacious on the inside. It was modern but cozy. The house was immaculate and the beds were very comfortable. We had great weather and it was such a treat to sleep with the windows open and hear nothing (we live in New York City = lots of noise). The hot tub was a wonderful way to end the evening after day long excursions visiting the Westfjords. We shopped in the town of Borgarnes for groceries and had wonderful meals cooked on the barbecue. I would also recommend the Settlement House in Borgarnes for dinner out at least one night while you are there. I had a few questions about the house and Heidi responded to my emails immediately. It was a wonderful trip and I highly recommend staying here!

Absolutely Stunning!
This house lives up to the pictures! Upon arrival, stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Upon walking in, we were all stopped in our tracks. Gorgeous open layout, beautiful designed, a huge hot tub, grill, clean bedrooms, wonderfully large bathroom that fit our group of 7 perfectly. We were beyond thrilled finding this gem. Thank you to the owners! If you are thinking of renting this house, you will be pleasantly surprised!!

Peaceful, immaculate, luxury, good location
Tucked away just far enough from town for maximum privacy with unbeatable views from the living room and kitchen. A great location for home base when exploring the snaesfellness peninsula! Highly recommended and will definitely stay here next time in Iceland.

What a Beautiful House!
We recently rented this house when we traveled to Iceland. The owner Heidrun is very meticulous and provided all information we needed including restaurants, groceries, excursions, etc. prior to our arrival. The house is beautifully designed. It is tranquil, extremely clean, modern with an open concept. The kitchen is well equipped, and all the kitchen appliances are new. Our family enjoyed our stay and wished we could stay there longer. To top that, near the house are streams and rivers surrounded by beautiful blue flowers. We could not help but to have a midnight drive to the river to admire the majestic vista. We definitely will stay there again when go back to Iceland! We love this house! This rental place is highly recommended!

Beautiful location with great access to wilds of northwest Iceland
Our family stay here was just perfect. The house is well equipped and the details provided on the use of the various appliances was very helpful. We used the house as a base and ventured out each day to explore the natural beauty of northwest Iceland. We had two excellent meals in Borgarnes (about 15 minutes away) and made the bakery our first stop in the morning. Our boys really enjoyed the hot tub and 24 hours of daylight made for wonderfully long days.

Alles stimmt!
Der Aufenthalt in diesem wunderschönen Haus war perfekt, wir fühlten uns sofort wie Zuhause! Alles ist genau wie beschrieben, was eine längere Bewertung erübrigt. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und sehr gut erreichbar. Wir wären gerne länger geblieben! Dieses Haus zu mieten war eine sehr gute Entscheidung!

Peaceful Living
The property was extremely well maintained, clean and very comfortable. The owners provided great information about the area and local activities which was a great help as this was our first trip to Iceland. They provided a house manual with lots of pictures which was invaluable in operating the appliances, directions to the house and safety and security. The town of Borganes is a great location to get to many other siteseeing areas and has all the amenities you might need as well (food store, gas, bank, restaurants near the waterfront). If you are looking for a place away from the city, but still close to town with activities, this would be a great place to stay. The owners could not have been more helpful; the home was spotless; an excellent place to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the land. - pao

Amazing Venue for a Very Special Occassion
I came across Heidi and Rob's property whilst looking for accommodation for a surprise trip for my girlfriend. I wasn't blown away by any of the hotels in Iceland so decided to look for properties that you could rent and luckily came across their amazing property. Their house really is a hidden luxury, located away from the city bright lights which makes it a perfect place to escape and see the Northern lights. The property itself is amazing with panoramic views of the mountains, a hot tub to soak up the northern lights from and even a barbecue to cook with a view! Heidi and Rob were amazing hosts - I was planning to propose to my girlfriend during our trip and they were so helpful in the months leading up to it and during our stay. They really helped make the perfect occasion for the proposal - suggesting places to go, walks and waterfalls to visits and even found a private chef to come and cook on the day of the proposal! Our Iceland trip will be a memory we never forget and my thanks goes to Heidi and Rob for letting us use their lovely house and for being amazing hosts.

A perfect introduction to Iceland
I booked this home on the strength of the photos and description listed on the VRBO site. This was our first visit to Iceland, and we chose this location for a "base camp" for one day excursions. Upon our arrival to this wonderful home right outside the charming town of Borgarnes, an easy trip from Reykjavik, we happily found a home thoughtfully designed, well-built and cared for by its family. The accommodations are very comfortable...above and beyond, particularly in winter. The amenities are all top quality. The whirlpool is glorious! It's a perfect setting to watch the Northern Lights. I could go on and on. As for the owners, they are generous and hospitable, quick to respond to questions. The location is fabulous for one day trips, especially to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Borgarnes is close by for groceries and gas, wine shop, good food and museum...very nice folks...and a too - tempting bakery with good cappuccino! If we never make it back to this mystical country, this home will provide a wonderful, lasting memory for the rest of our lives. Many, many thanks to Heidi and her family. Pakka per fyrir.

Luxurious, Comfortable and Convenient
We have rented numerous homes for vacation purposes but without a doubt, Heidi and Robert own one of the BEST we have ever stayed. This home has it ALL. We couldn't have asked for a better location to see and photograph the northern lights and we found it conveniently located as we traveled each day to take in all the amazing sites that Iceland has to offer. Great house in the country
My family of five stayed in this comfortable home outside of Borgarnes. It was a great place to spend three nights for our exploration of western Iceland. The hosts are friendly and helpful. The home is modern and spacious. If you want a place to stay where you feel like you are away from it all yet close enough to a grocery store, stay here!!!
